Jumping into a fun new collaborative project with some awesome photographers this month. “10 on 10” – take 10 pictures on the 10th day of the month & share. No pressure, join when you can. If the 10th doesn’t work, the 8th will do. Just document your daily life, I’m in.
February 10 found me rearranging plans to stay home with a sick little one. There were plenty of sweet couch snuggly moments to capture, but I chose to be fully present in those moments. And grateful that I could be there when needed like this.
So here are some images from a recent trip up to the Ferry Building in San Francisco with my fellow photographer friend, Nicole. We bumped into each other at Costco during the busy fall season and agreed to connect in 2014 for a day of fun away from our computers! You can see her fun images from our day together right here.
I realized once we arrived that the main lens I had brought, my 50mm 1.4, was broken. Fortunately, I had also tossed my new Lensbaby (Christmas gift, thanks sis!) into my bag to play around with if I felt like it. Well, it was time to sink or swim with this creative lens…
This was my first time shooting exclusively with a Lensbaby (does anyone else strongly dislike this product name?) and it was definitely a challenge. Many of the things I typically would shoot just did not translate well with this lens. It pushed me to learn and look for different subjects & scenes. My favorite is the last one – the city energy (and Nicole) are just as I remember them. This day was a good reminder of the importance of trying new things and getting out to play!
Head on over to the lovely Kim Bajorek’s site to see what she was up to in southern California on the 10th.

I LOVE all of these photos. You really captured some very artistic images (no surprise to me). Totally makes me want to get my Lensbaby out too and shoot with it more. I agree with you about the name…couldn’t they have thought of something else?

I love them too – my favorite is the painting man. Perfect shot for this lens!

I love these pics Suzanne! They turned out great! I love how the LensBaby builds in that feeling of motion. It worked well for the city, I think. Had so much fun that day and look forward to our next outing!!
