Happy Mother’s Day and hello to day three of this Documenting @ Home series. Today I’m sharing five final ideas I pulled from my 2018 album for you…
1| Chronicle the Morning Routines
Does your alarm go off a bit later these days? Do you have a go-to breakfast? What does your “getting ready” look like?
2| Record the Current State of Errand Running
Masks, gloves, hand sanitizer, oh my. Making a quick Target/grocery run definitely does not look like it did in 2018.
3 | Share Your Exercise Program
While you may be tired of seeing everyone post about their latest home workout, this project is just for you, so go ahead and document what exercise looks like for you at this moment. Or maybe this is where you try your hand at that camera-inside-your-refrigerator shot I mentioned the other day.
4 | Play
Hopefully this will be an easy one to record this year, as it seems more people are taking time to play as a family. Whether this means jumping on a trampoline in your back yard or enjoying board games or puzzles after dinner, take a picture to remember it all. What are you reading and what does your book group look like now? I’m sure I will also be recording how we are spending our #alonetogether time (Netflix, PS4, Snapchat, Facetime anyone?) this year.
5| Don’t Forget the Final Thoughts
Every year, I end my album with a note to my family. Share your heart and it will always be the perfect ending.
And I will end with this final thought from the queen of living well in your home…
From the moment we wake in the morning, we get to choose our perspective. The humdrum of daily repetition can make it easy to slip into the lull of autopilot. But if we are willing to give ourselves a little shake, to become truly awake to the day’s possibilities, we can instead notice all the goodness hiding in plain sight. And suddenly, the everyday will start to look and feel a lot more meaningful.”
