As world travel has ground to a halt, I find myself drawn to memories of past trips. With more time on my hands these days, I’m hoping to share some fresh inspiration here – both books I’ve previously made but never shared as well as new projects that are being completed as we all shelter in place. Just like this unique moment of history we are currently living through, this double 50th anniversary celebration trip with my parents and in-laws was one for the books.

I employed many of my favorite design techniques throughout this book, such as creating logical “chapters” to break the book up – in this case, based on the four different destinations of our trip. ..

Some images deserve a full bleed spread, while other layouts tell a story through the use of multiple images in a grid…

I’m always on the lookout for ways to visually represent a sense of place. This morning planning session provided a perfect opportunity to incorporate a map into the story…

And anytime someone is kind enough to photograph the photographer, make sure that image earns a spot in the book…

I’ve said it before, but I always try to close with some final thoughts: list of favorites, highlights, feedback from the group etc. For this book, I interviewed the group individually on our flight home and included those little details that will never be as fresh as they were in that moment…

As part of my ongoing travel series, this book has taken its rightful place on the shelf alongside our other adventures, with the hopes it will have new friends joining it before too long! Stay safe everyone.
